4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame has officially created a quarterback controversy right when they need it the least. Allegedly, starting quarterback, Ian Book, was too injured to start this week against Florida State. Many people believed he was going to be ready to go by Saturday. However instead, Brandon Wimbush was under center all game long.

Wimbush played incredibly mediocre, completing only 12 of his 25 passing attempts for 130 yards. He threw three touchdowns, but also had two interceptions. Coach Brian Kelly suggested Book would get his job back “when he’s cleared to go”.

However, some believe Kelly will continue to give Wimbush a chance to remain the starter based on his post-game comments. Because of the questions at quarterback, Notre Dame will likely fall one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Next week, the Irish host the Syracuse Orange. Syracuse was ranked at No. 13 prior to Week 11. They faced Louisville and put up 56 points against the Cardinals. They will likely be in the Top 10 heading into Week 12. The Irish will have their hands full, but can make a big statement to the committee should they win by a significant margin.
