It was a wild and wacky day in Ames this past Saturday, as Iowa State football scored its school-record fifth consecutive conference victory.

The Cyclones, who overcame a melee with Baylor that resulted in the ejection of star running back David Montgomery, held on for a 28-14 lead thanks in large part to the play of Brock Purdy. The true freshman quarterback is now 5-0 since taking over as the starter, doing it once again with both his arm and his legs.

Iowa State also received a great effort in the special teams area, along with a defense that accounted for three sacks and four more quarterback hurries. It was probably more bent-but-don’t-break than Matt Campbell wanted from the unit, but they kept the Bears out of the end zone until late in the third quarter.

By that time, the Cyclones had a comfortable lead and were feeling good, but business picked up rather quickly. The two were involved in a brawl that featured Montgomery and a Baylor player squaring off against one another, the wrong ISU player being ejected and a tense fourth quarter left to be played.

Despite all that, the Cyclones remained just on the outside of earning a spot in the Big 12 title game should they win out and see Oklahoma best West Virginia. That would set the stage for a rematch with the Sooners.

Here are five players who earned Blitz Stickers during Iowa State’s 28-14 victory over Baylor this past weekend:
