2. Connor Assalley, K

Kicking troubles have doomed Iowa State in the past, but it appears as if the Cyclones have the right foot for the job in sophomore Connor Assalley. On the season, Assalley has kicked through 13 of 17 field goals and all but one extra-point attempt.

He was critical in the win over Baylor this past weekend, as the Cyclone offense had no trouble marching down the field until they hit the red zone. From there, it was Assalley, who knocked through a 34-yard attempt near the end of the first half, and added a second field goal in the third from 37 yards out.

If Iowa State had failed to come up with any points on either of those drives, the end result could have been much different, as Baylor was able to post a pair of touchdowns in the second half.

Assalley will likely figure into things this Saturday when the Cyclones head south to visit Texas for a critical league showdown between teams tied for third in the conference standings behind Oklahoma and West Virginia.
