No. 2: Even if Alabama does stumble, it won’t matter

There’s just something about Alabama football that keeps them alone at the top of the college football ranks. I don’t know if it’s the continued success of Nick Saban, the constant commitments of 5-star recruits, or their inability to schedule anybody in the non-conference worth a damn, but it’s working for the Crimson Tide.

Take a step back from their non-conference schedule and focus on their SEC-counterparts, though. Following the Week 10 CFP rankings, 7-2 LSU (ranked No. 7) somehow stayed ahead of 8-1 Washington State (No. 8), 7-1 West Virginia (No. 9), 8-1 Ohio State (No. 10), and 8-0 UCF (No. 12), following a 29-point shutout versus the Crimson Tide. How is that possible?

Must the committee keep LSU ranked so high because, hear me out, every other team Alabama’s played isn’t very good? Almost like a resume-booster for Alabama? The Crimson Tide is good, don’t get me wrong. But they’ve had one of the easiest schedules in recent memory, and the team’s they’re shellacking aren’t beating anybody, either.
