ACC football had a few marquee matchups this past weekend. Clemson traveled to Chestnut Hill to face Boston College in a fierce battle.

Our ACC football power rankings this week had a few results that could decide bowl positions within the conference. Wake Forest picked up a very surprising win and the major news out of the conference was the firing of Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino.

How will Louisville get back to relevancy in the ACC conference? Jeff Brohm is the leading candidate after leading Purdue to a 5-5 record this season.

Here’s a look at our updated ACC football power rankings as we get ready for Week 12.

For the past couple of weeks, you could flip-flop North Carolina and Louisville as to which team is the worst in the conference. After giving up 50 points for the third straight game it was clear that the team had given up on Petrino. The Cardinals have lost seven in a row and should finish the season 2-10.

Head coach Larry Fedora could be right behind Petrino getting a boot out the door. North Carolina has just one win this season, and although they played pretty good against the Blue Devils they still couldn’t come up with the victory. Their implosion makes it even more surprising that they were able to win against Pittsburgh earlier this season as they have given up 30 or more points in five games during their six-game losing streak.

Another major coaching change that could shape the outlook of the ACC going forward is in Blacksburg Virginia. Longtime defensive coordinator Bud Foster’s defense has not played as good as you expect them to towards the end of the regular season. After being gashed by Georgia Tech and BC the past two weeks the Hokies couldn’t slowdown Pitts running game. Virginia Tech faces Miami this weekend in a battle of two underachieving  ACC teams.
