A pretty chalky week in the Big 12 keeps everything almost the exact same in this week’s power rankings, but Week 12 looms large.

This week’s version of the Big 12 power rankings is going to look a lot like last week’s did, because, well, pretty much every team that was supposed to win on Saturday did just that. There were some close calls for top teams like Oklahoma and Texas, but in general, it was a week of teams doing about what we expected them to do. I hate to say a college football week was boring, but it was honestly pretty boring.

Sure, there were some good games, not just in the Big 12 but around the country on the whole, but in general, it just wasn’t a great week. This weekend’s slate is similarly pretty weak, though there are some games of interest in the Big 12, but it could be another slow weekend leading into rivalry week.

I’m not going to complain too much about that though. Favorites winning makes my job of ranking these teams a lot easier, and with the conference still pretty obviously divided into a couple of tiers, it really isn’t too tough to put teams in their spots and feel good about it.

I’m not sure if Baylor or Oklahoma State is deserving of the six spot, if Texas should be number three, or if TCU belongs at nine, but in general, I think these are the most accurate rankings we’ve had yet this season.

I don’t have much more to say about Kansas. They’re still bad. They lost to Kansas State by four, and while they had the chance to win late, they just couldn’t get it done, fumbling on their final drive. Kansas is ready for a change at head coach, and while they certainly need more talent to compete, I think a fresh face leading the program will help a lot next year.

Speaking of needing a fresh face, Kansas State is going to have a new head coach next season, because there’s almost no way Bill Snyder doesn’t retire. It’s sad to see him go out on such a bad season, but he brought this upon himself. He stayed too long, and this is what happens when a coach stays too long. Kansas State is probably going to finish 4-8, and if that’s what it takes to get a new coach, it’s probably worth it.
