In Week 11 of college football, the gap between the top 10 teams and the rest of the top 25 grew due to a few bad losses. Here are the three worst losses.
There weren’t too many Week 11 games that really shook up the college football picture. However, there were a handful of games that may have been incredibly detrimental to a few teams’ hopes for a New Year’s Six Bowl game.
We start in the ACC.
3. No. 14 NC State vs. Wake Forest
At one point in the season, we saw NC State as an incredibly strong contender to knock off Clemson in the ACC. The Wolfpack were undefeated and had no hiccups prior to the Clemson game.
This past week, NC State earned their third loss of the season to Wake Forest. Not only was this game played at NC State, but Wake Forest’s record was an unimpressive, 4-5 prior to the game. Wake Forest had wins against Towson (a FCS team) and Rice and Tulane, who are two of the worst teams in the FBS.
This game should have been a blowout for NC State en route to a 10-2 season. However now, they are not even ranked in the top 25.
