Virginia Tech Football: 3 bold predictions for Miami matchup in Week 12
Virginia Tech football hosts the Hurricanes in a mini-rivalry game for Week 12. Here are three bold predictions for Virginia Tech’s big game vs. Miami.
The Hurricanes are 5-5 and head to Blacksburg, Va., with all rumors pointing to Mark Richt having lost his football team. The Hurricanes are 30th per the S&P+ while the Hokies are 4-5 and 75th overall per the same metric. This is not a banner year for the ACC in terms of football, thankfully Duke and North Carolina are both top-10 quality basketball programs for 2018-2019.
Miami has lost four in a row and five overall with LSU in Week 1, then Duke, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Virginia over the Richtian streak. The Hokies have lost to Old Dominion, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Notre Dame and Pitt in a more ebb and flow mediocre season. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 17.
I firmly believe this game is only being televised on the major ESPN network because college football fans love watching the Hurricanes implode.
The Hokies have dominated this series since 2003, especially at home in the rowdy confines of Lane Stadium. The Hokies have won nine of the past 14 meetings with Miami, including six of the last seven at home. The Hurricanes lone win in Blacksburg over that span was a 30-6 victory in 2014 under Al Golden.
