Iowa State Football: 5 reasons Cyclones will upset Texas in Week 12
2. Corey Dunn steps up
It has been a season of highs and lows for Corey Dunn, he season started off on a low point against Iowa where he had punts of 15 and 13 yards that really hurt the Cyclones in the field position game.
However, he has come up big in some key spots for Iowa State, as he averaged 43.5 yards per punt in the Cyclones upset of West Virginia back in October and averaged 41.3 yards per punt last week against Baylor.
Special teams is a part of football that gets so vastly overlooked by the casual fan that they don’t notice how big of an effect it can have on games.
Dunn has been subpar for most of this year, but I believe he will come through huge for Iowa State. Being able to flip field position in a conference like the Big 12 and with a defense like Iowa State’s is a huge advantage and Dunn is more than ready to have a positive impact.
