2. Versatility gives Mike Yurcich a lot to work with

With this point, we will dive deeper in to the value that Hubbard can provide for the Pokes from here on out. Hubbard is already having a huge 2018 campaign for a redshirt freshman backup running back on a five-win team. He’s got 587 total yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns this year.

A good portion of his production on the year came in his massive performance last week in the heartbreaking loss for Oklahoma State football in Bedlam to Oklahoma. Hubbard posted more than 150 total yards and three touchdowns. Of his 153 total yards in Bedlam, 49 of them came by way of his five receptions.

From this point forward, Hubbard is going to be a key part of the Oklahoma State passing game. He’s a very quick running back that can beat opposing defenses in any number of ways. His speed allows him to separate quickly when defenses try to post an average linebacker on him in pass coverage. Hubbard is also proving to be a very capable runner that’s averaging more than six yards per carry this fall.

With potentially a full body of work coming his way for the first time in his collegiate career next season, Hubbard could explode to become one of the more productive rushers in the Big 12. He’s already got to be at or near the top of the list in terms of the most capable backup running backs in the conference. Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich has to be excited about what his Canadian rising star offers for his play calling for the next few years.
