Syracuse football takes on the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Yankee Stadium and here are five reasons the Orange will pull off a major upset.

I have been a huge advocate for Dino Babers during his tenure at Syracuse. In each season they’ve improved and their record has gone from back-to-back 4-8 seasons to a season where the Orange could potentially have ten wins and a top 25 finish if all goes correctly.

The Orange come into this game with the fourth fastest offense nationally with an average of 84.9 plays per game and have bounced back well after losing on the road to Clemson. Syracuse’s offense can wear a team down in a heartbeat and make huge plays late to win games. They did that to Clemson last season with a total of 85 plays and 400-plus yards of offense in a program changing win. They found themselves in a situation against Clemson earlier this season that was a lot similar to last season but the Tigers backup quarterback Chase Brice had other plans.

Notre Dame goes into this game coming off a win against a Florida State team that has become a shell of its former self and did so without starting quarterback Ian Book whose presence propelled the Irish to a whole new level this season. Dexter Williams’ return has also proven fruitful this season with four of his six games going well over 100 yards and he even went over 200 last weekend against a fairly solid Florida State defensive line.

The only flaw that Notre Dame has seemed to have going into this game are the uniforms they’ve been wearing and the ones that they will wear going into this game.

Maybe they would look better if they kept the gold helmets.

So how on earth can the Syracuse Orange pull off the victory this week as they take on Notre Dame in the historic Yankee Stadium?
