Texas A&M football secured a winning record in Jimbo Fisher’s first year with the win over UAB. What did we learn about the Aggies in this one?

The Aggies have been hot and cold this season, but they were able to secure a winning season after beating UAB, 41-20, to add their seventh win of the season on the season.

On Senior Night, the Aggies played with heart- putting their blood, sweat and tears into this one. Texas A&M honored 17 seniors including big names on the defense like Daylon Mack, Kingsley Keke and Landis Durham. The team will miss them dearly, but this season isn’t over yet.

What did we learn about the 2018 squad in this matchup with UAB?

3. UAB shot themselves in the foot — in a big way

The Aggies have been well known for shooting themselves in the foot and losing a game or two from a turnover or a missed call or really anything that the fan base can complain about and blame a loss on. However, this time it wasn’t the Aggies shooting themselves in the foot, it was UAB as it tried to keep pace with Texas A&M.

UAB had three turnovers on the night. One of which they got the ball right back due to a fumble by Texas A&M running back Kwame Etwi on the very next play. The other two — an interception by Donovan Wilson and a fumble recovery by Larry Pryor — led to points for the Aggies. It also didn’t help that UAB missed two field goals and had one field goal and an extra point blocked by Jayden Peevy.

Simply put, through penalties, turnovers and a questionable kicking game, UAB shot itself in the foot as it left points on the field that never made it on the board.
