One team will drop from the top 10 when the College Football Playoff selection committee releases their newest set of Top 25 rankings on Tuesday evening.
It was a week that ostensibly offered little intrigue, yet still managed to serve up a surprise or two that will shake up the College Football Playoff Top 25 once again this week. We will see teams falling, others rising, and a general shakeup in the spots outside the very top of the rankings.
After losing in a surprise against Oklahoma State, West Virginia is going to fall from its No. 9 position. The committee is unlikely to send them all the way out of the rankings, but the Mountaineers will drop significantly somewhere into the mid-to-high teens. Otherwise, the top eight positions will remain the same across the board for the second straight week.
At the other end of the rankings, anywhere from two to four different teams could potentially fall out of the Top 25 this week after falling in contests. We are projecting the low end of the scale this week, with two teams falling out. In their position, a Power Five division champion and one of the nation’s best independent programs will jump up into their place.
How are things going to look in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s rankings when they release the newest Top 25 on Tuesday night? Keep reading for our projections heading into Thanksgiving week as of halftime of the late game in the Palouse on Saturday night.
