2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 12
By Dana Becker
If you didn’t know who Boston College defensive end Zach Allen was before the recent game with Clemson, you definitely do now. Despite the Golden Eagles suffering a loss, Allen was all over the field against the vaunted Tiger offense, and held his own when compared to the Clemson front four.
A three-year starter for Boston College, the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder has proven he wasn’t just a role player alongside Harold Landry. As a sophomore and junior, he recorded 25.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. In his first 10 games this season, Allen had 13.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage and 5.5 sacks, adding six passes defended.
Having went offense like year with Quenton Nelson in the first round to play guard, the Indianapolis Colts would see a significant upgrade in Allen over either defensive end Jaball Sheard or Margus Hunt, as he brings youth and athleticism to the unit.
