2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 12
By Dana Becker
Just like the Buffalo Bills before them, the Arizona Cardinals nabbed their quarterback of the future in the most recent draft, acquiring Josh Rosen from UCLA. Now, while the results have been mixed, the Cardinals need to secure themselves playmakers on the other side of the ball.
Competing in the NFC West alongside the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, there are not a lot of easy weeks for Arizona. The defensive line currently starts Rodney Gunter and Corey Peters, with Chandler Jones having himself an all-pro season on the edge.
Now, imagine a strong force lining up next to Jones to force double teams by the offensive line of the opposition. With Alabama’s Quinnen Williams available in the draft, that is exactly what the Cardinals can do.
Williams was part of a rotation last year, recording 6.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in nine games. He has doubled both of those stats this year, turning himself and his 6-foot-4, 289-pound frame into a high draft pick in the spring.
