2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 12
By Dana Becker
A former No. 1 ranked recruit in the nation, Rashan Gary has done nothing but improve his stock while helping the Michigan defense become one of the top units in the nation. Gary, who has been limited this year due to an injury, could be taken even higher in the draft if he is able to fully showcase his skills in workouts.
Gary, who is 6-foot-5 and 283 pounds, is an athletic freak. He started 12 games as a freshman, recording 23 tackles with five for loss. Last year, he picked up 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, and has been a disruptive force again for the Wolverines.
The Jets, behind defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers and head coach Todd Bowles, run a 3-4, which would really allow Gary to force opposing offenses to focus on containing him. That should open things up for ends like Leonard Williams and Henry Anderson, along with the linebacker group.
