4. Michigan Wolverines

As painful as it is to admit, the Michigan Wolverines deserve the number four spot in the College Football Playoff if the season were to end today. However, they especially deserve the spot if they are able to beat Ohio State and win the Big Ten Championship Game.

It pains me to admit that Michigan, at 10-1, is more deserving of the last playoff spot over the undefeated, UCF Knights, at 10-0. But given that the Wolverines lone loss was to Notre Dame, in South Bend, on the first game of the season, by only a touchdown, there isn’t that strong of an argument to be made in favor of UCF.

In Week 13, Michigan travels to the “Horseshoe” to take on Ohio State in a battle for a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game. Whoever wins this matchup will take on Northwestern. Michigan has already beaten Northwestern earlier this year, but won by only three points. Additionally, it is always extremely tough in college football to beat the same team twice in one season.

The Wolverines have will have a tough finish to their season. However, wins in both of these games will only strengthen their resume.
