Michigan football’s Karan Higdon went as far as guaranteeing a win over Ohio State on Saturday. Was this the right move?

Karan Higdon took a page right out of his head coach’s book. Michigan’s captain and senior running back was asked if he would follow in Jim Harbaugh’s footsteps from his playing days and guarantee a win over Ohio State — he said yes.

For Michigan fans, this attitude is refreshing to see. The program seemed content with third-place finishes and Harbaugh was finding himself on a warm seat after the season-opening loss to Notre Dame. No, I don’t think his job was truly in jeopardy, but if you read social media following that defeat, people were growing sick of preseason promises going unfulfilled.

Fast forward 12 weeks and there’s a different feeling around Ann Arbor. The Wolverines are on a ‘Revenge Tour’, as they call it, beating Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State and the next focus is arch-rival Ohio State.

Higdon just added to that newfound confidence the Wolverines have been sporting with the Ohio State win guarantee.

Sure, he was baited into answering it the way he did by the media, but he still could have said something to the tune of, “We’re just going to focus on playing our game and the rest will take care of itself.”

But that’s not how Michigan feels right now, and that’s OK.

Was this a wise move since Michigan has never beaten Urban Meyer at Ohio State? Probably not, but it’s one that you have to respect. He could have given a cliche-filled quote, but he stood by his mindset and stated that, yes, he does guarantee Michigan will beat the Buckeyes.
