Mississippi State football travels to Oxford for this year’s Egg Bowl. Here are five reasons the Bulldogs will beat Ole Miss on Thanksgiving.

It is rivalry week in college football, and the weekend kicks off with a big duel on Thanksgiving when Mississippi State heads to Oxford for the Egg Bowl showdown against Ole Miss. Last year, the Rebels came to Starkville and defeated the Bulldogs in a game marked by the loss of starting quarterback Nick Fitzgerald to a brutal injury in the first half.

This year, Mississippi State takes to the road to face off against the Rebels in Oxford. Two years ago, the Bulldogs visited Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and crushed their state rivals 55-20. That Ole Miss team was 5-6, just like this year’s outfit.

Under first year head coach Joe Moorhead, Mississippi State has remained the SEC West middleweight that Dan Mullen helped build up in Starkville. This year’s team could still win nine games for the fourth time in five years if they take down the Rebels and win their bowl game.

Unlike some rivalry games, the Egg Bowl has traditionally been a pretty balanced series. After falling at home last year in unfortunate circumstances, here are five reasons why the Bulldogs will return the favor against Ole Miss on Thanksgiving evening.
