3. Is Lincoln Riley distracted?

The news concerning the job status of Lincoln Riley in recent weeks has focused on almost every football opportunity except for the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners. Lincoln Riley’s name has been mentioned on multiple NFL shortlists (namely the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys).

If the NFL can’t lure Riley away a host of other collegiate programs will do their best to woo him. And even if Riley has no intention of moving on or coaching anywhere else in 2019, the potential for distraction has continued to escalate — and it’s showing.

How else do you explain an almost lethargic performance against Kansas in Week 12. The same Kansas program that has already announced the dismissal of their head coach gave the Sooners a run on Saturday, nearly upending the massive favorites and causing their Big 12 Title and College Football Playoff dreams to go up in flames.

Riley has had the chance to squash the rumors and say he’ll be returning to Oklahoma next year. He hasn’t. Until then it’s fair to wonder just how focused Riley will be down the stretch.
