Alabama Football: 3 bold predictions for 2018 Iron Bowl vs. Auburn
2. Jerry Jeudy scores twice
Jerry Jeudy was announced as a Biletnikoff finalist this week along with UMass’s Andy Isabella and Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace. Jeudy’s numbers aren’t as eye popping as those two, but he’s also not perpetually playing from behind like Isabella or in an air-raid system like Wallace.
Jeudy went over 1000 yards last week, and has done so on an absurd 19.6 yards-per-catch average with 10 touchdowns. He hasn’t scored over the last three games, however, so you have to figure he’s going to break out with a big game soon.
He had four games this season with two touchdown receptions, including two each in the first three games of the season. He has been Tua’s favorite target, and has emerged as one of the premier wide receivers in college football, sure to be one of the top prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The sophomore receiver has a bevy of moves, his ankle breaking cuts becoming stuff of legend already. His ability to stick a foot in the ground and leave a defender looking silly is reminiscent of another former Tide great at WR in Amari Cooper, but Jeudy’s is arguably more explosive.
He has elite top-end speed, and I think Alabama is going to try and go deep down the field to Jeudy multiple times in this game against an Auburn secondary that has given up its share of big plays this season.
I think Tua will be looking for Jeudy early and often, and I expect a big game from both as they look to make statements in their respective award races.
