3. Will Grier and Kyler Murray among the best

We were spoiled to be able to watch two of college football’s most talented quarterbacks play on such a big stage. Kyler Murray, the junior for the Oklahoma Sooners, completed 20 of his 27 pass attempts for 364 yards and three touchdowns.  But a nearly 75 percent completion percentage and a huge amount of yards in the air was not even the most impressive part of Murray’s game. What was more incredible was his 114 yards rushing and touchdown on the ground that really highlighted how talented of an athlete Murray is.

And although Will Grier was unable to lead his team to victory, he actually had an even better game than Murray under center. Grier completed 32 yards for 539 yards for a total of four touchdowns through the air, and one rushing touchdown.

Grier was relied upon much more heavily by his team to keep them in the game than Murray. Oklahoma’s running back, Kennedy Brooks, was able to help the Sooner offense by running for 182 yards. West Virginia needed Grier to carry them the entire game.

Regardless, what we saw between these to quarterbacks was something that you may not see the rest of this college football season.
