TCU football saw their season fall apart after the Ohio State loss but managed to sneak into a bowl berth with a win over Oklahoma State in their regular season finale.

The TCU Horned Frogs entered the final two weeks of the regular season in a rough place. They’d lost six of their last eight games and needed to finish the year with wins over Baylor and Oklahoma State to earn a bowl berth. It wasn’t an untenable task, but recent performance left little reason for confidence.

It wasn’t pretty but TCU won an ugly slugfest over Baylor in Week 12, scraping out a 16-9 victory with only 311 total offensive yards. That gave hope to a team which had lost to Kansas weeks prior. All they needed was one more win to go to the postseason.

Oklahoma State rolled into Fort Worth, TX with that subplot. The Cowboys had clinched a bowl trip of their own the week before with a massive upset of No. 9 West Virginia in Stillwater. On Saturday against TCU, they returned the favor. The Cowboys didn’t start punching til the final moments of the third quarter, but by then it was too late.

TCU’s 7-3 halftime lead was extended to 14-3 in the third quarterback by a defensive score. Sophomore wide receiver Jalen Reagor took a carry 83 yards to the house on the next possession, putting the game out of reach. The score was his second of the game and it marked the seventh straight game with a touchdown for Raegor.

Oklahoma State made a late push, scoring the final 14 points in regulation. But it was too little too late as TCU’s early burst proved to be enough of a difference for the Frogs to hold on.
