Penn State Football: 3 takeaways from easy win over Maryland
2. Miles Sanders continues to be underrated
When you hear about some of the nation’s best running backs, you hear about guys like Mike Weber, JK Dobbins, Jonathan Taylor and Karan Higdon, in the Big Ten alone. Rarely do you hear the name Miles Sanders mentioned with that group, which is a shame.
The junior running back finished the game with 128 yards on 14 carries, adding to his 1,000-yard season. He’s gone from backup to Saquon Barkley with gigantic shoes to fill to one of the top rushers in the conference.
Sanders was a highly-touted recruit out of high school and there were high hopes for him in Happy Valley, but he was forced to wait his turn behind Barkley, and it’s paid off.
With the 100-yard game, he finished the regular season with five such contests and averaged over 5.5 yards per carry. He’s been one of the most consistent backs not only in the Big Ten but in the entire country.
Keep under-valuing this guy and he’ll keep proving you wrong.
