Texas A&M football is favored to beat LSU in Week 13. Even though the Aggies haven’t beaten the Tigers yet, they’re poised to rewrite history in 2018.

Texas A&M has had a pinball-type season in 2018. Their near-miss to Clemson vaulted expectations through the roof only to see the fanbase breath a collective sigh when the team lost to Alabama two weeks late. Now the Aggies sit at 7-4 and are eying win No. 8 and a little piece of history – a win over LSU.

Here’s why Texas A&M will finally get the monkey off their backs and beat LSU in 2018:

1. There’s a new sheriff in town

The national narrative surrounding this game is ease and worn. Texas A&M hasn’t defeated LSU since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012. The papers will write it, the pundits will spin it and the broadcast will start and in their evening with comments on this piece of series trivia. But that’s all it is: trivia.

The Aggies’ previous losses came under a different head coach with different schemes and a different culture. The new-look Texas A&M isn’t unbeatable in November or infallible in their ways, but things are already shaping up to be better than they used to be across the board.

Jimbo Fisher never played LSU at Florida State, but he did coach the Tigers along his journey to becoming the head coach at FSU. He knows the Bayou Bengals as well as anyone and he’ll be ready to give them a fight.
