A showdown in Pullman on Friday night could have been a chance for Gardner Minshew to vault back up into the top three of the race. Instead, he was shut down by an excellent Washington Huskies defense as the Cougars fell to Washington 28 -15.

It was the first game of the season that Minshew did not throw a touchdown pass, as he was held to a season-low of 152 passing yards, less than half of his average.

Minshew numbers are still out of this world excellent, and if it wasn’t for the amazing play of the quarterbacks ahead of him having even better seasons, he would be in line for a bounty of awards this postseason.

He finishes the regular season with 4,477 yards passing to go along with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

This could have been a statement game because a win over a bitter rival would have certainly kept Minshew in the spotlight and the Cougars in contention for a college football playoff spot, now fans have to wonder where they will be bowling, as Minshew finished a stellar regular season on a sour note.
