The Blue Devils second half of the season hasn’t gone nearly as good as the first half. After a 5-1 start Duke had their eyes on a potential ACC championship game run, instead, they stumbled to 7-5 down the home stretch with two blowout losses to close out the regular season. The defense couldn’t slow down the Demon Deacons Daniel Jones played arguably his worst game of the season in the mostly empty home stadium.

Two weeks ago the Cavaliers had a shot at the ACC title game against Clemson, now much like the basketball team, they have been taken down by teams many believed were inferior on paper. Virginia lost the Commonwealth cup to Virginia Tech on Friday, fumbling the ball away in overtime. Seven wins is still respectable and they will look to get win number eight during bowl season.

When your quarterback and running back both play like All-conference performers, you know your offense is going to have a good night. Hanging 59 on Duke in the most lopsided victory of the weekend for the conference, the Demon Deacons showed fans they wanted to go bowling this postseason. Cade Carney led the way on the ground with 223 yards rushing and two scores.
