Big 12 Football Recruiting: Top 10 recruits joining the conference in 2019
By Phil Poling
The addition of offensive tackle Stacey Wilkins is a big one for Oklahoma, both literally and figuratively. Stacey, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs around 285 pounds could be the next staple along the Sooners’ offensive line.
He attends Camden Fairview High School in Camden, Arkansas, and is one of the state’s top recruits. Both Alabama and Arkansas were in on Wilkins, but he verbally committed to the Sooners in early August of 2018.
Wilkins has the size to play in the Big 12 immediately, but just like any offensive lineman, will need to adjust to the speed of the game. The Sooners could potentially have a new quarterback in 2019 depending on what Kyler Murray does, and it’s unlikely head coach Lincoln Riley would want a true freshman protecting his signal-caller’s blindside; he could see time at right tackle, though.
Wilkins is ranked the No. 121 recruit by 247Sports and No. 56 by Rivals. He holds 25 scholarship offers, but is likely to stay with the Sooners and join them for the 2019 season.
