Days before the participating teams have even been announced the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has sold out, forcing extra seating.

College football fans are passionate, but we already knew that. However, you have to be on an entirely different level to buy tickets for a bowl game that doesn’t even have its teams announced yet.

Everyone loves a good New Year’s Six matchup and it could be even better this year with a potential Big Ten vs. SEC at-large matchup but are fans of those conferences really crazy enough to scoop up tickets in the week leading up to the team announcement? Apparently so.

According to a press release from the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, the high demand for tickets is forcing them to add additional seating after one of the quickest sellouts the game has ever seen.

"To meet the high ticket demand for this year’s game, a limited number of additional seats have been added to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. These new tickets are available to the public for only $75.This year’s sellout is the fastest the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has sold out in a non-Semifinal year since joining the College Football Playoff (CFP), and represents the fourth-fastest sellout in the Bowl’s history."

The fact that Mercedes-Benz Stadium, an indoor facility, is adding seating is pretty unique and it just goes to show that even though it’s sold out, there will be opportunities for fans of the teams announced to buy tickets for $75.

Not often will you see a bowl add seating to accommodate a large crowd. Like the press release said, this is the quickest sellout for the bowl as a  non-semifinal since it joined College Football Playoff and fourth-fastest ever. That begs the question, who is buying these tickets?

There are plenty of fans who have a good idea of where their team will be playing and there’s a feeling that Michigan and Florida are the favorites to land in the Peach Bowl — both clearly have huge followings and travel well.
