3. Win the Turnover Battle, win the game

Both of these teams have been very prone to turnovers this season. The Buckeyes have had 13 turnovers this season, while Northwestern has had 14 turnovers. A majority of each team’s turnovers have come from the passing game, but for much of the season, Ohio State has had a lot of issues holding on to the football in running game as Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins have both lost fumbles and Dwayne Haskins has lost two fumbles as well.

On the flip side of things, both team’s defenses have had great success forcing turnovers as Ohio State has forced 19 turnovers this season with Northwestern right behind them, forcing 18 turnovers in 2018. Some notable ballhawks for both sides include J.R. Pace and Paddy Fisher for Northwestern and Dre’Mont Jones and Kendall Sheffield for Ohio State.

In most games across the country, turnovers usually are key factor in who wins. But in Saturday’s game, turnovers will decide who wins the ballgame. Which ever team can avoid coughing up the ball and making errant passes will be headed to Pasadena or (in Ohio State’s case) maybe the College Football Playoff.
