1. Dwayne Haskins has forced himself into the Heisman Trophy conversation

“If the committee makes the decision to put us in the Playoff, I’m going to put on a show.” The Ohio State quarterback couldn’t have been more direct in his comments immediately following his team’s conference championship-clinching victory. Part hubris, part swagger Haskins has earned the right to puff out his chest and talk some smack.

Haskins has thrown for a school record 4,580 passing yards and 47 passing touchdowns. Even in the Buckeyes’ tough loss, Haskins threw for 470 yards, the most in a single game by any Buckeyes’ quarterback, ever, at least that was true until he passed for 499 yards and five scores against Northwestern on the biggest stage.

Haskins will be in New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony alongside Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray and Alabama’s Tua Tagovialoa. All three passers are having incredible seasons, and all three have a shot at playing in the Playoff for a reason. Georgia has had a nice run, but the Bulldogs lack anyone on their offense of a caliber like this.

Baker Mayfield paved the way for Murray at Oklahoma, proving the system is, at least in some part, responsible for the gaudy numbers Murray has put up this season. JT Barrett was fine, but Haskins is on another level. So are the Buckeyes.
