The College Football Playoff field is set with many familiar faces. What did Saturday’s action have in store and what can we take away from it?

After an enthralling 2018 college football season, postseason action is officially right around the corner with both games starting as early as Dec. 15. Those worthy of a highly sought after playoff spot, however, will have to wait for their next matchups until the end of the month.

Following Saturday’s slate of games filled with conference championships, the playoff field has been cemented, and for the most part, it went just as expected after Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

Without any surprises, the College Football Playoff forges ahead for its fifth installment and will feature these teams:

No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 4 Oklahoma. Each team except for Notre Dame reached the playoff by virtue of winning their conference and by finishing in the top 4 in the final College Football Playoff rankings.

Out of the top 4, only one team –– Oklahoma –– has suffered a loss this season. However, the Sooners avenged their only loss to Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Here are five takeaways from the final week of college football before bowl season commences.
