Auburn football will square off with Purdue in the 2018 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl in Nashville. Here’s why it’s a must watch.

Meeting for the first time ever, the Auburn Tigers (7-5) and Purdue Boilermakers (6-6) will clash on the gridiron in the 2018 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl. Although the official name of the game sounds like something from The Office, particularly the Fun Run episode, there are a few reasons to tune in.

Auburn football finished the 2018 regular season with a 7-5 record, good enough for fifth place in the SEC West. Their season was highlighted by an opening-weekend win against eventual-PAC-12 champion Washington and back-to-back wins against Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Things didn’t go as planned for head coach Gus Malzahn & Co., but there were obvious bright spots along the way.

For the Boilermakers, knocking College Football Playoff-hopeful Ohio State from the conversation was the highlight of their season. They finished just 6-6, but their overall record doesn’t speak to their talent, as Purdue handed three Top 25 teams a loss: No. 23 Boston College, No. 2 Ohio State, and No. 19 Iowa.

What should be expected of these teams come game day? Will the top player’s from each side suit up? Will their coaches have chased greener pastures, or possibly even be let go? Regardless, we’ve got three reasons to watch!
