The 2018 Heisman Trophy Race took a sharp turn after championship weekend. Will Tua Tagovailoa‘s performance cost him the trophy?

With the SEC and Big 12 championship games showcased the top two players in the race as they led their teams towards potential college football playoff berths.

Before we get into our top five let’s take a look at our honorable mentions this week.

No. 7: Darrell Henderson, Running back- Memphis Tigers

Henderson hasn’t been on our list at all this season, but after another excellent performance against a top 10 program in UCF, he deserves to be here. The talented running back had touchdown runs of 12, 62, and 82 yards, finishing the day with 210 yards rushing and three scores.

On the season he has run for 1,909 yards and 22 touchdowns, while also being a threat in the passing game with 19 receptions for 295 yards. If the junior decides to return next season he will easily be on the preseason watch list.

No. 6: Will Grier, Quarterback- West Virginia Mountaineers

Although the Mountaineers didn’t win the Big 12 championship, Grier still posted excellent numbers this year. The potential Day 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft has thrown for 3,864 yards, with 37 touchdowns and eight interceptions. If the West Virginia defense had made one or two stops in either of their last two losses Grier could have seen himself in the top five.
