1. John Ursua could have one more big game at receiver for Hawaii

The catalyst for cracking the Louisiana Tech secondary is probably going to be John Ursua, the junior receiver whose rises and falls in production have mirrored the fortunes of the Rainbow Warriors in 2018. When Ursua has posted big games with multiple receiving touchdowns, Hawaii won with ease as we saw during the first half of the season.

But over a four-game swoon starting mid-October and bleeding into the first week of November, Ursua’s production cooled off considerably. It started when McDonald sat out the Wyoming victory, as Ursua caught just five passes for 30 yards.

Over the next four weeks, as the Rainbow Warriors lost four in a row, Ursua went over 100 yards just once and never managed to catch multiple touchdown passes. The drop in productivity allowed opponents to key in and slow down the rest of the team as well. For McDonald to be effective, Ursua will have to find space within a secondary that has done a good job of shutting down receivers all year long.
