Well hey, Iowa State played a game on Saturday! That’s just about all I can say about it, because I absolutely did not watch it, and you didn’t either. From what I’ve been able to gather, they really tried to lose to a non-scholarship FCS school, before deciding that they should in fact not do that.

Regardless, Iowa State is 8-4, and headed to the Alamo Bowl against Washington State on December 28. To say that about this program given where it was a couple of years ago is simply astounding. Matt Campbell has turned Iowa State into a respectable football program, and he seems to be sticking around at least one more year, which is great news.

Texas lost to Oklahoma on Saturday in the Big 12 title game. That’s not surprising, because, well, Oklahoma is better than Texas is. However, the fact that Texas is back to competing with Oklahoma for the Big 12 title, and that they keep landing top ten classes is a great sign. I think the future is bright under Tom Herman, and while we can probably retire the “Texas is back!” joke, the Longhorns may legitimately be back to near the expectation in Austin.
