It’s time for post-season awards and all-star games in college football, and the West Virginia football program is boasting plenty of both.

The Heisman Trophy won’t be making its way to Morgantown, West Virginia like many Mountaineer Maniacs had hoped, but quarterback Will Grier is still receiving recognition for his stellar 2018 campaign. On Wednesday, it was announced that he had accepted an invitation to play in the 2019 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Along with the Mountaineers’ signal-caller, a trio of offensive players will join Grier in Mobile, Alabama for the January 26 exhibition: offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste, wide receiver Davis Sills, and tight end Trevon Wesco.

Of the ten Big 12 players who’ve already accepted invites, four of them are Mountaineers. This speaks not only to the committee selecting the players, but to West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen’s ability to develop his players and get the most out of them.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl doesn’t invite just anybody to come and participate, though. And it’s a great place to go and showcase your talents in a way that maybe weren’t highlighted in the particular system that they played in during college. To quote Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage, “To have 500 former players on active NFL rosters emphasizes the fact that each year the Senior Bowl features the future stars of the league.”
