2. Webb seems to really like Bulldogs OL coach Sam Pittman
For a guy who currently is slated as a center, but wants to play guard, his future coach is a pretty big deal. Yes, Kirby Smart and Nick Saban are quite the interesting conversation, but that isn’t who I’m talking about. Here, we are more focused on Clay Webb’s future offensive line coach.
The man in that position is Sam Pittman and he is well loved and well respected by not only Webb but by the current players in Athens as of now.
The question of pulling an in-state recruit out of Alabama when the Tide is recruiting them is easier said than done. However, that hasn’t stopped Pittman from trying and that is very clear when Webb talks about him.
“I like Coach Pittman,” Webb said. “I like talking to him. He says ‘I can make you a better man’ and I just like his personality and tone and everything about him.”
He also sites that Pittman is older and more experienced than Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key. He feels as if Pittman has seen more and will be able to teach him more about the position and how to make it to the next level — to play on Sundays.
