In big games, it always appears as though Deandre Baker’s abilities become especially apparent. For example, in the SEC Championship game against Alabama, Tua Tagovailoa was held to a mere 164 yards passing and threw two interceptions. While neither of these interceptions we made by Baker, his lock down defense on Alabama’s top wide receivers played a large role in the Georgia secondary’s success.

Baker has 40 tackles on the year, including two interceptions and a forced fumble. The turnover numbers appear low, but in reality, this is just a consequence of opposing quarterback refusing to throw to Baker’s side.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback will need to gain some size in order to defend bigger and fast NFL wide receivers, like Mike Evans or Odell Beckham Jr. But as long as he does that, while maintaining his quickness, Baker will be a lock-down cornerback for the Washington Redskins.
