Five-star center Clay Webb committed to Georgia football over Alabama on Monday afternoon and he could impact the Bulldogs immediately.

The rich just keep getting richer and on Monday afternoon, the Georgia Bulldogs kept their quest for the No. 1 recruiting class in 2019 alive. Five-star center Clay Webb committed to the Bulldogs over the likes of Alabama and Clemson.

For Bulldogs fans, it has to feel good to beat Nick Saban off the field when taking him down on the gridiron hasn’t worked in the past two tries.

Webb, the No. 22 overall player in the country and No. 1 center (per 247Sports), stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 295 pounds and he could fit right in to that starting lineup for the Bulldogs in 2019, if he does stay at the center position and not move over to guard.

Lamont Gaillard is graduating after the season, leaving the backup center job to starting freshman guard Trey Hill or freshman Warren Ericson who saw minimal experience in 2018 but also plays some guard.

Webb is the perfect addition for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs as the center position will likely be vacant and up for grabs this spring and fall — especially with Webb being an early enrollee.

There may be some desire to get Webb a bit thicker, but he’s already a good size to play center and will make Georgia’s offensive line that much stronger.

Replacing Gaillard won’t be an easy task, but Webb has all the tools to be a star for the Bulldogs and an All-SEC performer from day one.

Don’t you hate when the best teams in the country add potentially better talent than they currently have starting? The Bulldogs are red-hot on the recruiting trail lately and Smart is to thank for that.
