West Virginia football‘s 2018 season was successful, but it could’ve been better. What should Mountaineer fans have on their holiday wish-list for 2019 and beyond?
Dana Holgorsen and the WVU football program finished third in the Big 12 in 2018 with an 8-3 record. They’ll end the season, hopefully on a high note, against Syracuse in the Camping World Bowl on December 28. But is this the best WVU fans will ever get?
Mountaineer Nation experienced an overflow of emotions in 2018. There was the season-opening win against Tennessee, the game against NC State in Raleigh that got canceled, and of course the shootout in Austin with the Longhorns. Let us not forget the two losses down the stretch against the Oklahoma schools. Although those aren’t good memories, they’re important to remember if WVU ever wants to get over the hump.
West Virginia wants to play all their scheduled-games in any given season. West Virginia wants to beat the Cowboys and Sooners. West Virginia wants to win a Big 12 Championship. West Virginia wants to win the College Football Playoff, too.
All of the above things are possible. Maybe not in 2018. Maybe not even in the immediate future. But it’s silly to not wish for better finishes than 8-3. So what should the Mountaineers be wishing for this holiday season?
