Michigan Football: 3 reasons 4-star OT Trevor Keegan will commit
Michigan football is close to expanding its 2019 recruiting class by one on Friday as four-star offensive tackle Trevor Keegan could commit.
A commitment is coming and it happens to be the week before the early signing period for college football. Four-star offensive tackle Trevor Keegan is nearing his decision and on Friday afternoon, he will be deciding between Michigan, Penn State and Georgia.
The Crystal Lake, Ill., native is ranked the No. 163 player in the class, 17th-best offensive tackle and No. 1 recruit in the state of Illinois, per the 247Sports composite.
Michigan should feel good about its position with the 6-foot-5, 310-pound monster, but why should the Wolverines be so confident heading into Friday’s commitment?
Why will the four-star offensive tackle pick Michigan on Friday?
3. Premier offensive tackle in Michigan’s class
There may be one offensive lineman ranked higher (Nolan Rumler) in Michigan’s 2019 class, but if Trevor Keegan picked the Wolverines, he’d be the No. 1 offensive tackle as Rumler is a guard.
This may not seem like it means anything, but for recruits, it usually means they’re at the top of the board for a certain position and unless they totally flop in their first year, they’ll hold on to a solid advantage on the depth chart.
Keegan would be rated higher than Trente Jones and Jack Stewart, four-star and three-star recruits, respectively, per 247Sports. He is approaching that top-150 range nationally and could be a day-one contributor for the Wolverines.
Plus, he’s the biggest offensive lineman in the class at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, making him the most college-ready of tackles in the class. This is an attractive spot for Keegan.
