With the Notre Dame football season weeks away from its conclusion, what should all Irish fans be wishing for this holiday season?

What a year it’s been for Notre Dame football, going unbeaten for the first time since 2012 and making its first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.

It seems as if Brian Kelly has turned the corner as a head coach and his program, with two consecutive top-10 recruiting classes, is gearing toward the national spotlight yet again. Notre Dame may just be “back”, ladies and gentlemen.

That doesn’t mean the holiday wish list for Notre Dame football fans will be empty for the 2019 calendar year, though.

What should top the Notre Dame wish list heading into 2019?

5. A top-five recruiting class

As of Dec. 13, Notre Dame has the No. 10 recruiting class in college football. The Fighting Irish, led by an increased recruiting effort by Brian Kelly, have pieced together a solid 2019 class and fans have to be wishing for a top-10 finish to the cycle.

If Notre Dame does finish with a top-10 class, it’ll be the third straight season in which the Fighting Irish ended up in that range on a national level.

Since this is a wish list, fans will want more than just another top-10 class, though that is quite impressive to land three straight, but a top-five class to contend with Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama would be ideal — especially if the program wants to get back into regular national spotlight.

The Irish class already has 21 pledges with only room for a couple more, so a top-five class isn’t likely, but a top-10 class isn’t a bad consolation prize.
