Oregon football is just hours away from learning its fate with five-star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux. Here’s why he will pick the Ducks on Saturday.

If you don’t know the name Kayvon Thibodeaux, you better do some research. If you don’t feel like doing the research, all you need to do is watch his impact on whatever program he chooses on Saturday in the 2019 season and beyond.

The five-star defensive end from Thousand Oaks, Calif., is ranked the No. 2 overall recruit in the country and he’s set to announce his decision on Saturday night between Alabama, Florida State and Oregon.

Two of those programs have been among the best in college football history and the other is an up-and-comer with a head coach who has been an excellent recruiter and is in his first year leading Oregon. The Ducks, though, seem like the best spot for Thibodeaux, despite going against Nick Saban and Mario Cristobal’s former boss, Willie Taggart.

Here’s why the five-star defensive end will pick Oregon.

5. Oregon has a strong journalism program

Not many top-tier recruits worry so much about life after football, but Kayvon Thibodeaux is a rare breed of student athlete. The five-star defensive end talked with ESPN‘s Tom VanHaaren about his future off the field, stating he’s thought about being an attorney but he’s aiming toward being a broadcast journalist.

Most schools offer journalism as a major, but Oregon has one of the better programs and he would be able to follow his post-football goals in Eugene.

Alabama and Florida State don’t quite offer the same programs, which makes this one of the more underrated reasons as to why he’ll choose the Ducks. Will this be enough to sway the future NFL star toward the Ducks and away from a national powerhouse like Alabama or a program that could be on the rise again under Willie Taggart like Florida State? If he’s serious about it, yes.
