3. Proximity to home

OK, so Thousand Oaks, Calif., isn’t exactly right down the street from Eugene, but it’s only a two-hour plane ride. If Kayvon Thibodeaux wants to be close enough to take a short plane ride to see his family, Oregon is the place to be.

Both Alabama and Florida State are all the way across the country, making trips back home less convenient.

Proximity to home isn’t important to all recruits, but the five-star seems like a down-to-earth kid who could take advantage of having his family just a short plane trip away. Plus, many recruits wouldn’t admit that being close to home is important, but it truly is.

Oregon gives Thibodeaux the best chance to have his family attend home games and, well, this is the only West Coast program on his list for a reason.

Mario Cristobal has a major selling point in proximity to home that neither Alabama nor Florida State possess.
