In an all-Pelican State affair taking place in Orlando, the Tulane Green Wave earned its first postseason triumph since 2002.

The so-called “Bayou Battle” went Tulane’s way against its in-state neighbor, Louisiana. The Ragin’ Cajuns managed to pull the margin to three points in the fourth quarter, but the Green Wave scored two decisive touchdowns to win by a score of 41-24.

Tulane held the ball for nearly 40 minutes and rushed for 337 yards, gaining 28 first downs in the process. While two Green Wave turnovers helped the Ragin’ Cajuns roar back in the second half, Tulane’s defense was able to stiffen and get several key stops in the final quarter.

Tulane head coach Willie Fritz ends the season at a 7-6 (5-3 AAC) mark in his third year. Louisiana falls to 7-7 after its loss in the Sun Belt conference title game two weeks ago and today’s setback.
