3. Could North Carolina A&T beat the FCS national champion?

North Carolina A&T is technically an FCS program, but the deal with the Celebration Bowl means that the two HBCU conferences do not send their champions to the NCAA Division I college football playoffs. Non-champions can land at-large bids into the tournament, but a team like the Aggies opts for a different championship.

After winning three HBCU national championships over the past four years, though, might the Aggies be the team best suited to take down North Dakota State as it surges toward another FCS national title?

It is a fun thought experiment that was there in the background of the festivities in Atlanta. The Aggies will be content to celebrate another Celebration Bowl win, but it is likely that they would be right at the forefront of the larger playoff if they were to participate.

Unfortunately, we won’t get to see this thought experiment play out in reality. But after North Carolina A&T once again found a way to win over their SWAC counterparts, it begs the question of how they might fare against the Bison or the Eagles.
