5. Never ending eligibility for Jace Sternberger– or a cloning machine
Yeah I know, you’re all shook that this isn’t about running back Trayveon Williams. However, with what freshman Jashuan Corbin has been able to do in the limited playing time he has had I am not all that worried about Williams’ looming NFL decision.
Everyone is thankful for Jimbo Fisher and the changes he has brought to Aggieland. He has changed the culture of this program in a way that is going to bring championships to the city that hasn’t had one since the times of World War 2. Yeah, as an Aggie myself that is not a stat we are all too proud of.
However, there is one person that Jimbo Fisher and company has brought along and it’s not a coach. His name is Jace Sternberger and at the TE position he has been simply extraordinary.
His career started at Kansas under David Beaty and when that didn’t work out, he made the transition to Oklahoma A&M where he registered 21 catches for 336 yards and six touchdowns. He wasn’t exactly the high-profile player that he has become in Aggieland though. In a full season of work, Sternberger pulled in 10 touchdowns in 47 receptions for 804 yards. That was good enough for the second most in college football, behind Caleb Wilson at UCLA.
Right now, Aggie fans everywhere are wishing for two things. Number one, for Jace Sternberger to announce that he is sticking around for his senior season. Number two, an announcement that he has never-ending eligibility and won’t be leaving anytime soon. Obviously, one is more likely than the other, but an Aggie can dream right?
