From the moment Justin Fields announced his plans to play for Georgia football, questions around his decision have come to the top of many discussion boards.

Now, according to a report by Dan Wolken of USA Today, Fields’ time as a Bulldog is coming to an end, as the true freshman plans to transfer immediately.

After a standout high school career that left him as the No. 2 ranked prospect in the nation, Fields signed with Georgia to serve as the backup quarterback to Jake Fromm. Fromm was coming off a season in which he led the Bulldogs to the national championship game, and fended off Fields during the preseason and throughout.

Fields played in several games, though, completing 27 of 39 passes for 328 yards with four touchdowns. He also flashed his incredible athletic ability with 266 yards rushing on 42 carries, prompting some early in the year to make a push for him to unseat Fromm.

Instead, Fromm remained the starting quarterback, guiding Georgia to an 11-2 record and sport in the upcoming Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day to take on Texas. It is likely that Fields will not be part of the program by the time kickoff rolls around in New Orleans between the two.

The report states that Fields will try to argue his immediate eligibility wherever he decides to go.

Fields committed to Georgia over Florida State during his senior season, and remained loyal to that decision despite efforts of Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, Dan Mullen at Florida and Willie Taggart at Florida State to sway him before signing on the dotted line.

Fromm, who just completed his sophomore season, has been the man under center for 28 games for Georgia, completing 65 percent of his passes for 5,152 yards with 51 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He threw for 27 touchdowns and over 2,500 yards this past season, improving his completion percentage of over six points.
