5. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma wasn’t a school that Fields gave much consideration to during his recruiting process, but the Sooners could be a lot more appealing as he goes through the process for a second time, particularly with the success Oklahoma has had with their last two transfer quarterbacks.

Lincoln Riley’s team has produced the last two Heisman Trophy winners with Kyler Murray following up Baker Mayfield‘s record-setting season with a historic one of his own, leading Oklahoma to a second straight Big 12 Championship and a second straight trip to the College Football Playoff.

Riley’s system is conducive to a dual-threat QB having immense success, as we have seen the last couple of seasons from Mayfield and more notably Murray. Murray has thrown for over 4,000 yards this season and rushed for nearly 900 more, totaling 51 touchdowns in piloting the nation’s top-ranked offense.

Potentially even more intriguing for Fields is that Mayfield was the No. 1 overall draft pick last season by the Cleveland Browns, and if Murray decided to eschew his baseball contract with the Oakland Athletics, he would likely hear his name called in the first round despite being severely undersized for the position.

Fields has the prototypical size for an NFL QB and could put up big numbers in Norman, potentially leading to him being a high draft pick in a couple of years.

The timing of Fields’ transfer is perfect for Oklahoma as the Sooners could be in the market for a transfer QB this offseason with Murray departing after the playoff.

It’s hard to find a more perfect fit for their offense than Fields.
